Frequently Asked Questions

At INTEGRATIVE we are more than happy to answer questions regarding your care as you start on your path to wellness.  Some of the questions we get most frequently are listed below.  Please call our office if you have other inquiries or would perhaps like more information from a practitioner.

What is Integrative Manual Therapy (IMT)?
Therapy at INTEGRATIVE Manual Therapy & Wellness consists of a thorough evaluation to determine each patient’s underlying cause or causes of dysfunction.  A comprehensive “systems approach” is then utilized to address dysfunction in the musculoskeletal and nervous systems, joints, connective tissue, gastrointestinal, urogenital, and vascular/lymph systems.  Our manual therapies include osteopathic manipulation, muscle energy technique, strain-counterstrain and advanced strain-counterstrain, craniosacral therapy, neural tension techniques, myofascial and neurofascial release, and visceral mobilization.  With this detailed approach, we are able to treat the underlying dysfunction – not just symptoms – and treat each individual as a unique structural, functional whole.

Do I need a prescription from my doctor? What if my insurance does not require it?
You will need a prescription for physical therapy, no matter your insurance – it is a state law.  Referrals to INTEGRATIVE can be made by your physician or specialist, nurse practitioner, osteopath, chiropractor, dentist, or podiatrist. You do not need referral for Pilates; however, it is always best to discuss with your doctor a new exercise regiment to be sure it is right for you.

Is this covered by my insurance?
Physical therapy is often covered by insurance, but you will need to familiarize yourself with how much your specific insurance will cover, your deductible, and what your co-pay will be for each visit.  Pilates as rehabilitation may be covered by your insurance as physical therapists utilize it as an exercise modality; be sure to discuss this with your physical therapist.

What insurances do you accept?
We currently participate with Aetna, Anthem PPO, Tricare Standard, United, First Health, Mail Handler's Insurance, and workman's compensation.

What is the charge for service without insurance?
The self-pay rate for physical therapy appointments is $95.00 per hour.

How long are appointments? How often should I schedule appointments?
Appointments generally last 1 hour to 1 ½ hours, depending on your insurance, or if you are paying the self-pay rate.  At your initial evaluation, your therapist will determine how many times a week it would benefit you to come to therapy.  The average patient comes in 1-2 times per week.

What should I expect at my first appointment?
It's best to arrive approximately 15-20 minutes early to fill out paperwork to avoid cutting into your appointment time.  Your therapist will perform your evaluation and, time permitting, begin treatment.  Please be prepared to pay your co-pay at the time of your appointment.

What should I wear?
Wear non-restrictive, comfortable clothing that you feel comfortable moving in.

How do I know if Pilates right for me?
Pilates can be for everyone.  It should be customized to provide the right exercises for your specific body type and specific needs.  Let us help create a customized, comprehensive, and fun program for you!

Is this kind of therapy suitable for children?
Integrative Manual Therapy is appropriate for all ages; what a great way to start your child on the road to wellness!

What forms of payment do you accept?
Currently we accept payment in the form of cash, check, or Pay Pal. Keep in mind that when using Pay Pal, an additional 2% handling fee must be added to the total bill.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Can I bring my newborn with me?
One of our favorite patient populations is that of soon-to-be moms and new moms.  Being moms ourselves, we understand the need to bring newborns in to appointments, and will work with you during this exciting time.
