Our massage therapists offer Swedish or relaxation massage, deep tissue, hot stone massage, aromatherapy, Jin Shin Do or acupressure, and pre-natal massage to name a few…and they continue to expand their repertoire of techniques.
Cayce/Reilly Massage: A dynamic massage incorporating traditional strokes with passive range of motion excercises and vibrational stimulation of the glands. This technique is based on Edgar Cayce’s health readings as interpreted by physiologist Harold Reilly and is typically done with organic, cold-pressed oils. The Cayce/Reilly Massage can be combined with any of the complementary therapies listed below.
Integrative Massage: A personalized massage combining traditional soft-tissue strokes with myofascial release, acupressure, and energy work.
Acupressure: Using sustained pressure on acupuncture meridian points, the therapist works to achieve balance within organs or a body system. Choose from Jin Shin Do or Shiatsu
Reflexology: Focusing on points found primarily on the feet, reflexology works to relax the entire body in order to reach a state of homeostasis. Benefits include deep relaxation, improved circulation, cleansing of toxins and rejuvenation.
An exciting new addition to our massage therapy services is Thai massage, which helps to increase flexibility while releasing tension. This type of massage is done fully clothed on a floor mat, and is an excellent alternative to those who are looking for a more energizing type of massage:
Thai Massage: The practitioner guides the recipient through a series of yoga postures while palming and thumbing along the body's energy ("Sen") lines and pressures points. Together these actions result in a comprehensive full body treatment that relieves muscular tension, improves circulation, boosts the immune system and balances the body energetically. Thai Yoga Massage is performed on a mat on the floor; both client and practitioner are dressed in comfortable clothing allowing ease of movement and flexibility. No oils or creams are used.
Ayurvedic Lifestyle Counseling: Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word meaning “Wisdom of Life” or “Life-Science”. A holistic system of medicine from India, Ayurveda uses a constitution model to provide guidance regarding proper diet, exercise, cleansing, meditation and mental health all based on your individual dosha or individual constitutional makeup. Ayurvedic medicine aims at balancing the elements present in the body with those of their environment. In this three part program you will first learn your dosha. The second session focuses on yoga and meditation, including a private yoga class. Finally, the third session introduces you to the Ayurvedic diet. Each session includes a 45 minute massage suited to your constitution.
